About Us

Immunomorphology department of "Dnepropetrovsk State Medical Academy diagnostic center” was founded on professor Shpon’ka’s (pathology department chairman) initiative in 2001. Our laboratory was one of the first institutions in Ukraine, where IHC-method was successfully applied in diagnostics of human neoplasms. More than 7 000 IHC-analysis were performed since 2001. Most of them were used to solve specific clinical problems and also were reflected in scientific research works. Since the day of establishment, our department’s staff members constantly participaite in multiple trainings and international conferences, which are held in the leading clinics of Ukraine and Russia (Moscow, Kiev, St. Petersburg, Kazan’).

The head of the immunomorphology department is the chairman of pathology department of DSMA, full professor Igor Shpon’ka, MD, PhD.

Consultants in our department are staff members of the pathology department of DSMA and pathologists of Dnepropetrovsk Regional Bureau of morbid anatomy:

Today, our department is the biggest center for oncopathology in south-western region of Ukraine. We have an efficient scheme of cooperation established with our colleagues in Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporojye, Odessa, Kherson, Poltava, Kharkov, Nikolyaev, Kirovograd regions, and in Crimea. This way, our center’s work covers a lot of regions of our country. A number of new immunomorphology laboratories in different regions of our country were founded by professor Shponka’s followers, with whom he shared his knowledge and experience.

Only the latest classifications and standards, which strictly correspond to the most up-to-date international criteria, are used in our work. We welcome oncologists, gynecologists, urologists, gastroenterologists, neurosurgeons, and other specialists, who face the need of accurate pathologic (immunohistochemical) diagnostics in their work. We are also ready to help patients, who need their pathologic diagnosis to be revised for some reasons.
